Debra Lee's Kind Gesture Zenzile Riddick(6th grade)
While in Washington, D.C, the middle school students of Ile Omode visited many places. One of the places we visited was BET headquarters. While there, we learned a lot of “behind the scene” information. Besides that, we were given a very special treat. We were able to meet the C.E.O of BET, Debra Lee. She was so kind and did something very special for us. She promised that if we would walk, be careful, and be very quiet, that we may go into her office. We didn’t realize what a treat it was until we actually got inside. Once inside, we realized that her calling it an “office” was far from true. It consisted of three rooms, not including her personal bathroom. Each room was very modern and fun, yet still chic and cozy. It was very inviting and colorful. I’d love going to work in the morning if I knew I was going to that! The first room we saw when we walked in was just a particular room that the front door led into. It didn’t have a particular name. It had a colorful, yet mostly green, flower patterned table. It had matching chairs. There was a beautiful rose and tulip centerpiece and an award in the middle of the table. There was also a window that looked over Washington, D.C, and probably more than that! To the left of that was a see-through sliding door that led into her sitting room. This area is still part of her office. It had pink fluffy couches and darker pink matching pillows. There were flowers everywhere. The wall was an orange-ish pink color. Going back through the first room and through another door was her “office office”. This had a desk and a swirly red chair. In the window sill there were pictures of her with Barack Obama, Nelly, Ashanti, and LL Cool J. She had three televisions and a glass shelf with mini sculpture and awards on it. She had a gigantic picture of the same radio tiled in different colors. It was amazing. Last but not least, was her bathroom! It was so beautiful that Sennua and I thought we had to take our shoes off to go in. She even had a shower! It was amazing. Her mirror was beautiful. It was so beautiful. Her designer, Courtney Slow, is amazing. I speak for us all when I say it was truly beautiful! I loved it! |
