Get Your Knowledge at this College
By Senay Alkebu-lan (6th grade)
We went to Howard University on Wednesday, April 5th. Alexis Cook was our tour guide. She is a sophomore at Howard which means that she is in her second year in college. She majors in communications. Other majors include Anatomy, Animal Genetics, Biochemistry, Biology/Biological Sciences, General, and Genetics.
In order to get into Howard, you need at least a 3.0 grade point average, at least 1,000 points on your SAT test and at least 22 points on your ACT test. It costs from $27,000 to $32,000 per year. Major improvements, additions, and changes occurred at the school in the aftermath of World War I. New buildings were built under the direction of architect Albert Cassell. There are many dorms. The athletes live in a separate dorm where they can basically roll out of their bed to class. The boys and girls live on separate parts of the campus in different dorm buildings unlike Cal Berkeley where they have separate floors. Also, there were sororities and fraternities organized on campus. Almost all had a painted tree but some have statues. We had a delightful time! I think Howard is the place for me!!! |
