Day at the Smithsonian By Marcus Herron (7th grade) The Smithsonian museum is located in Washington, DC and our visit was great. It was huge and the building on the outside made me speechless. Inside it was even better,we didn’t even have to pay. My class and I started at the best exhibit. It had animals from the times of B.C. One interesting thing that I saw was the dog.
It looked liked a regular dog, but it was small. So I concluded that over time dogs got bigger. Another thing that I was amazed with was the sloth. This was no regular sloth it was a giant sloth and it stood as tall as a dinosaur. We also saw a lot more exhibits and one was the mammoth and it looked like an elephant. Each exhibit had a painting of the animal’s environment and in these exhibits there were more than one kind of animal in the exhibits all of these animals and pictures came from pre-historic times. Some exhibits were new and some were old but this museum has been there since August 10, 1846, it is not specific where all of these artifacts came from but they came from places all over the world such as Africa, and Europe. After that we went to the gift shop. There were a lot of things like crystals, gems and marble rocks. I bought a popcorn rock which was a rock that can sprout crystals. The other thing I bought was crystal candy and it was good. After that we went to the store. Soon after, we went to another store downstairs. The store had many things including items that related to the museum. It was so cold that I had to get hand warmers. They were only 99 cent and it didn't include tax. After that we waited for Mama Tyanne to get a shirt. Then it was off to the Jazz concert. |
