TechHub Opens!
 Wednesday, February 24, 2021
TechHub, an on-site remote instruction offering, opened February 4th to better serve students who might benefit from a fully resourced remote environment, and enjoy socializing a bit with classmates. Staffed by Baba Christen (Ade, 7th) with support from Mama Vicky (Michelle, 6th), students receive on-site support. The TechHub runs from 8:30 to 1:30 daily. Initially designed to assist students of essential workers and those with at-home technical difficulties, it is now open for many others.
The TechHub is intended for students who are relatively independent, and thus 4th grade was selected as the minimum grade up to, and including, 8th graders as well. Participants of the TechHub are required to obtain a COVID test every two weeks, along with completing a daily health assessment test.
United Parcel Services (UPS) and Wilco Source, both contributed a $5,000 donation towards a healthy and safe TechHub (along with upgrading our online instructional capacity). The funds have helped build up the technical infrastructure to support students in the hub as well as provide equipment to meet CDC’s face-to-face guidelines. Additionally, funds have been used to provide a remote work station for each teacher, upgrade the instruction equipment, and replenish the on-site sanitation items.
Currently, the TechHub is acting as a pilot run for the general reopening of the school. The ReOpening Task Force is working diligently to ensure that all CDC health guidelines are met as they plan for the return of students (look for an email from your teacher).
