100-BMBA contributes $10,000 to Ile Omode’s general scholarship fund
 Monday, January 11, 2021
The 100 Black Men Bay Area chapter and Ile Omode have established a partnership that will extend 100-BMBA’s educational initiatives to Ile Omode’s campus and its students.
Founded in 1963, the 100 Black Men of America (100-BMOA) is one of the country’s top African-American led mentoring organizations, and the Bay Area chapter is one of the organization’s leading chapters. The BMBA provides mentoring programs, as well as educational, economic, and health and wellness offerings to African American youth throughout the San Francisco/ Oakland Bay Area.
Within this partnership, 100-BMBA will provide mentoring and support educational programs towards driving a positive outcome for African-American youth, especially Black males. The 100-BMBA will contribute $10,000 to Ile Omode’s general scholarship fund to be awarded to students for the 2021-22 school year.
The goal of this partnership is to allow Ile Omode students to benefit from an active and ongoing relationship with Black male role models. Where opportunities are presented, members of the 100-BMBA will offer formal and informal presentations and participate in guest forums. The partnership can potentially increase the number of Ile Omode students who attend 4-year colleges and universities, and provide career placement, job shadowing, and mentorship opportunities, which are key determiners of college graduation.
Lastly, 100-BMBA will find a strong group of babas (fathers) at Ile Omode who could participate actively in the organization’s programs. Their collective years of wisdom and knowledge will assist 100-BMBA members in providing mentorship to Ile Omode youth.
