UPS Support Ile Omode 2 years in a row
 Monday, December 14, 2020
United Parcel Services (UPS) has made financial contributions 2-years in a row. Last year, The UPS Foundation awarded a $5,000 donation to Ile Omode’s STEM program. This year, they’re providing an additional $5,000 for a healthy and safe TechHub which will offer a physical space for at-risk youth and the children of essential workers.
While remote instruction has been successful for some, it also introduced home settings that aren’t conducive to instruction. The TechHub was designed to bring students who are most at risk of falling behind academically during the COVID crisis into an uninterrupted environment, where they’d have resources at their disposal for continual learning and minor distractions.
The funds will enhance the technical infrastructure to support students in the hub as well as provide equipment to meet CDC’s face-to-face guidelines. The school’s distance learning program will support 30 students, Monday through Friday, with five hours of live instruction and one and a half hours devoted to homework support.
An alumni parent, Mama Darlene Graham, who's responsible for getting the grant, continues to provide a connection with UPS and Ile Omode.
