The New Life Seminary cycle of classes for 2007 is about to begin. The first two courses will consist of: an extended orientation for new/prospective members, and an introduction to Kemetic spirituality.
The Orientation to Wo’se will cover the church’s history, mission, leadership and the membership requirements. It is designed to familiarize interested folks with the organi-zation and ease their transition as probationary members. This class will be led by Brother, Jahi Awakoaiye, educator, and Director of Ile Omode.
The second course will focus on the four main Creation narratives of ancient Kemet, and introduce participants to the moral and ethical system known as Maat. The course also requires no specialized background or main text. The Creations class will be jointly led by Dr. Raymond Davis and Minister-in-Training, Zerita Sharp.

BRIEF (view the syllabus):
An analysis of four major accounts of the creation of the gods, world and humans with an emphasis on the cosmogonies of Khemenu (Hermopolis), Iunu (Heliopolis), Mennefer (Memphis) and Waset (Thebes). The course provides the basic vocabulary, themes and controversies in Kemetic spirituality, including the foregoing, the death and resurrection of Asar (Osiris), the Declarations of Innocence, the journey of the soul, and the nature of the “Afterlife.” This offering provides the necessary foundation for further study of the Kemetic approach to spirituality. |

Meditation Techniques

This course provides practical methods for achieving self-realization and self-renewal through the practice of meditation. Drawing from Kemetic sources, it focuses on a specific set of techniques for producing in the diligent practitioner a state of peace, tranquility and well-being. Among the skills covered are moving and seated meditation, relaxation, concentration, proper breathing, creative visualization, words of power and energetics.

Overview and practice of the fundamental rituals of Kemetic spirituality with emphasis on description, discussion, demonstration and personal practice. An important objective of the course is to provide participants with the necessary tools to engage in their own personal spiritual development as well as to better understand temple rituals employed at Wosé. Topics include “magic” (heka), hymns of praise, offering “formulas,” libation, healing practices and funerary rites.
