Friends
of Ile Omode |
| |
The
Friends of Ile Omode was started in 6242 (2002) to provide interested
individuals (or groups) with an opportunity to financially contribute
to the school. Friends of the school provide an annual contribution
of any amount. Contributions can be as little as $25, although
we encourage Friends to contribute a minimum of $100.
Friends
are only required to make a single financial contribution each
year. Contributions can be as little as $25, although special
gifts are available for contributions greater than $100. Contributions
of $100 or more will receive a “Friends of Ile Omode”
t-shirt, and contributions exceeding $250 will receive a matching
hat.

Inkjet
Recycling |
| |
Don't throw away your old inkjet cartridges!
Our school is partnered with a vendor to provide $3 for each used
inkjet cartridge we send. The inkjets are cleaned and reused,
which reduces the landfill. So in addition to earning money for
the school, we also do a good turn for the environment. They accept
ink jet cartridges from most vendors, including, Hewlett Packard,
Lexmark, Compaq, and most Cannon cartridges (BC01/02/05, BC20,
and BX3); please note, however, that they do not accept Epson
cartridges.
The company provides a convenient box with
instructions for packing the inkjet cartridges. One parent suggested
bringing the box (a small box) to work to make it even easier
for colleagues to recycle their ink jet cartridges. Contact the
staff if you would like to place a box at your place of work.

| Volunteering |
There
are a number of volunteer opportunities throughout the year. Some
volunteer opportunties are regularly needed, and others occur
as a particular need arises (although we always have something
to do :)
Volunteers
are always needed to support our after school homework center.
Our after school program serves the elementary (the preschool
is a different program), and we're always looking for tutors who
can serve this age group (K through 6th) in all subjects. Tutors
must meet with the director and are required to provide documentation
showing a negative TB test.
Individuals
with unique skills may offer to facilitate an after school program.
In the past individuals have offered after school programs in
model building, West African dance, modern dance, chess, and art
to name a few. After school programs vary in time and duration.
Generally most are 1 hour, and vary from 2 - 8 weeks. If you have
skills which may be useful in an after school setting contact
the director.
